People are often under the impression that being a workaholic is a good thing. But is it really? Being a workaholic can have negative effects on one's health as well as your relationship. Marriages often suffer because one half of the partnership suffers from workaholism.

Relationships need to be nurtured and couples need time together. When people work constantly they often neglect other areas of their lives. Workaholism can cause a person's health to decline. It can create an atmosphere of stress and tension. It puts a strain on marriages and intimate relationships.

Workaholics are people that become consumed by their work. They can be downright obsessive about work. Spouses and children may often feel neglected. When work comes before family the foundation of one's relationship may begin to crumble and the workaholic finds himself/herself on shaky ground. Workaholics often justify their obsessive work habits by claiming that all of those long hours spent at the office are all for their families. It is true that many people work very hard to provide properly for their families. Their intentions are good but they do not realize that time and attention are equally important.

Families need financial support but they also need emotional support as well. Spouses need time alone to talk and be intimate with one another. A relationship needs to be nurtured in order to grow. Workaholics will often steer every conversation back to their work. They find it hard to relax because they are never fully present in any environment other than the work environment. When one person in a relationship is consumed by work the relationship is bound to suffer. People need closeness both physically and emotionally.

I do agree with the above statement and believe that due to work, our relationship is like drifting apart. We only can spend time together on his off days which fall either on weekdays or weekends. Unlike last time, where we spent most of our weekends together. Oh dear~ How I miss those days! :(

It has been raining since morning today. Lucky, I do not have any plans. How cool it is to just relax at home. We watched The Earth Stood Still yesterday at Marina GV. It was full house that we got second front seats from the screen. It was a 2 hours movie.

We had a bbq on Friday after work.
